The History of AT&T
Steven Colbert speaks the truth about the history of AT&T.
Quite humorously I might add.

Go to the La Brea Tar Pits in L.A.
It is a part of the Miracle Mile District and it is a very interesting place to visit.
The La Brea Tar Pits constitute one of the world’s best and most important collection of Ice Age fossils.
Inside the George Page Museum at the La Brea Tar Pits, you’ll find exhibits selected from over 1 million fossils recovered from the La Brea Tar Pits. They include a wood fragment about 40, 000 years old, and skeletons of dire wolves, saber-toothed cats, mammoths, short-faced bears, giant sloths, ancient buffalo as well as many birds and other creatures.
Besides the exhibits, visitors can watch a short film about how the La Brea Tar Pits were formed and another about how scientists have investigated their contents. Kids especially like the “What It’s Like to be Trapped in Tar” exhibit and when a docent is on duty, they can go hunting for “fossils” and get a certificate to prove their finds.
Okay, so it’s not in Long Beach, but hey, this is still L.A. County. Universal Studios is an awesome place when visiting Los Angeles.
It is indeed a fun day, and saving a day on your next stop to LA is worth the visit. It’s fun for all ages and far more than just rides and thrills. You will actually come away having learned something about L.A’s number-one industry–movie-making!
The park is easy to reach from L.A., and the parking is not a hassle. Heck, it’s L.A., so you can even get valet parking at the park! The lines are not as long as Disney; and we only waited at the front gate for 5 minutes to buy tickets.
We opted for the Front Line Passes, which seems a little rude, but we feel that they were worth EVERY penny. Basically, it allows you to CUT IN THE FRONT OF ANY LINE! You never wait more than a few minutes, and for the shows you are in first and get the prime pick of seats!
The tram ride is still the best. You go through the Back lot and see real movie sets. This day nothing was in production, but in the past, movie stars have walked up to the trams to shake hands. There are a few thrills, like Jaws jumping out at the tram and King Kong trying to tip over the tram, but overall it’s about movie-making and the guides have a lot of cool facts to share. The typical characters roam the park; you will see anyone from Sponge Bob to the Marx brothers. We enjoyed our day. It’s not as high-tech as Disney and is more about the shows than rides. The kids loved the Spiderman show the best. It’s a mix of gymnastics and hip-hop. I have to admit that the guy who played Spiderman was pretty impressive as he swung around the stage on a rope. They are really well produced and are something the kids and the parents can enjoy together.
We also advise that you splurge for the Frontline Pass–it’s worth every penny and will allow you to be in shows, not waiting in lines. Check out more information at Universal Studios.

Being that this is the 231st birthday of our nation, do you know what it takes to be an American?
This is the test that is given to applicants wishing to become citizens.
See if you can score 100%.
When immigrants want to become Americans, they must take a civics test as part of their naturalization interview before a Citizenship and Immigration Services (INS) officer. The questions are usually selected from a list of 100 sample questions that prospective citizens can look at ahead of the interview (though the examiner is not limited to those questions). Some are easy, some are not. I have picked some of the more difficult ones.
NOTES: The INS plans to revise its list of questions in 2008 (a pilot program is using these new questions at selected INS sites). Also, the questions in the test below are as asked on the official United States Immigration and Naturalization Services Web site. This is disturbing. Witness how when the cop grabs the young girl in a choke hold, the young guy does everything he can to stop it. This boy is already ten times the man this cop will ever be. Cops strangling 12 year old kids for skateboarding? Just exactly what have we become?
See for yourself.
