World Famous Annual Long Beach Bayou Festival - THIS WEEKEND!

by Allen Cox

There’s always something interesting going on in Long Beach, but this is one of the main summer attractions, drawing people from around the globe.
You will have a BLAST!

Sample traditional Louisiana cuisine from gumbo to crawfish to delectable creole dishes, then take a stroll through the French Quarter, recreated to the “T”.

Check out the main stage where you will hear Jazz, Zydeco and the Blues. Your feet will start tapping to the beat, and before you know it, you’ll be up and dancing with the rest of the crowd.
Arts & crafts vendors abound in carefully thought-out areas.

You will LOVE the parades, so don’t miss them!

This is a family event, geared toward all ages, so don’t expect to see any of the raunchiness associated with Mardi Gras. You will find everything else, though, in a very upbeat, exciting atmosphere.

Low back chairs are allowed, and even some larger umbrellas in certain areas. No coolers or grills. Food and drinks must be purchased inside the gates.
Tickets may seem a bit pricey, but all profits go toward assisting children and families living in poverty. Besides, this is an all day event that runs until 10:30 p.m. Cheaper than going to a theme park and much less exhausting!

Skip the parking hassle and ride the Passport down Ocean Blvd. (free all weekend!) Get off around Alamitos and Shoreline Drive (just follow the crowd.) See you there!
